When I got home Murray seemed a little off, but he was excited to go outside so I let them out and waited for... I celebrated the new year with family. Desi quickly came back, but Murray was really slow (which is not completely out of character for him). Once inside his gait was horrible, the worst I have ever seen. He seemed to be favoring his front paw, which I quickly checked, but could find nothing wrong with it. At that point he started yelping everytime he put any pressure on his foot, and would not correct it. I was at a loss for what to do. I knew that his essential oils help with is pain so I got him to the living room and made him lay down. By this time he was shaking uncontrolably and his eyes had glazed over. I sat with him and rubbed essential oils into his paw and legs. Prayed, prayed, prayed and then prayed some more. I just didn't want to have to start the new year with out my boy. He would just look at me and kiss me, so I knew he knew I was trying to help. I also gave him an asprin, bad I know, but it was all I had. He finally napped a little, then about 2 hours later he weakly got up and moved to his love seat. I went to bed feeling better that he moved to his normal sleeping spot and was able to climb onto the furniture. A couple hours later he woke me up to go outside, and seemed to be much better. He seems almost normal, though is gait is off some, now. My vet wants me to get him a magnet coat for this winter for going outside. Murr is really feeling the cold this year and seems to feel weaker when he is outside in it for more than a minute or two... but barking at cows sometimes takes a little longer then that. ]]> LoMax http://dolforum.com/forum/blog.php?b=546 <![CDATA[Ok! The divorce was long and ended in default as he refused to respond to the papers. (long story very short but the children and I are safe, happy, and much better off).
I have since met up with a high school friend and we are dating though he is currently deployed to Afghanistan he will be returning for Christmas Dec 19-Jan 19. He is a wonderful man and over the moon for the children and I. I love him dearly.
I purchased a home in September 2010 in a rural area with lots of land and a creek and now have a mini farm including horses, goats, chickens, ducks, and pigs. My dream come true. I am very happy here!
I did an insane amount of work with a local animal shelter and finally won out in my fight to have pit bulls adopted from their shelter (previously all pits were euthanized). This is perhaps one of my greatest accomplishments in my life and I am so proud and happy for the pitties!! As celebration I adopted the first APBT ever from that shelter, and named him Signi (meaning new victory). He was seized from a fighting property at 6 weeks old. He is wonderful and is about to complete his CGC test and work as a doggie ambassador for his breed at only 9 months of age!!!
I am currently waiting on the arrival of our new brindle Dane boy which is driving me insane!!! And cannot wait to start my journey in training him as my service companion!
I am so excited to be back and on this new leg of my life. :)

Right after Halloween, I noticed that Murray was worrying over his back paws like crazy... a sign of pain. Before I could call my vet, she called and said that it was time to bring him in... I swear I was gonna call the same day, but she beat me to it. I made an appointment for Friday, but I had to cancel due to work. I rescheduled for today... and the difference between Friday and today was very noticable. He had a few involuntary sits and he was struggling to get comfortable on his love seat. He was so happy to be at the vet... he just moaned and gave us kisses. He loves his BiComm, which is what we did today. The vet said that the cold weather would probably be pretty hard on him and thinks that he has arthritis in is hips and lower spine to make it even worse on top of his wobblers. Murray is a trooper and a happy happy boy, so on we continue. She told me at our last vet visit to bring Murray back when I felt he needed a visit. This past week, I have been more alert to him and thought maybe he might need to go in. This morning he was playing with Desi, and he got mad at her and refused to play with her any longer. He has gone to bed, though appears to act normal. He just seems pouty, I think Desi hurt him a little as they played. Well this afternoon, who calls but my vet. She thinks that Murray needs to come see her soon... kinda weird huh. He was starting to show signs that he was a wobbler's boy, and I was feeling sick in my heart. I took him to the vet and she was so positive, he didn't fall on the slick floors, like he has done in the past. That is good, she reminded me. She tested his energy and decided that he didn't need BICOMM this time, but she thought acupuncture would help him. I guess Murray soundly told her that he did not want needles stuck in him, you know they "talk". She said that she would use a laser thing instead, which he LOVVVVED. He was fighting sleep he was so relaxed. She wanted me to see if I could lessen his gemmotherapy, which I had already done to 10 drops every other day. He is doing great! Now the vet just wants to see him, when I feel he needs it. She said that I will know. He is doing great!

On a side note, my sister referred one of her friends to my vet, since her dog was not doing so good with her arthritis. Her husband took Lucy in and said it was like visiting a witch doctor, lol. But Lucy is doing better now.

Mom from the Bear Mountain in West Virginia and Dad's family from the Ozarks in Missouri. Last year my neighbor moved and they put their house up for rent. It was rented by a young couple with two kids and two dogs. One of the dogs was very fence aggressive, and in turn Murray thought if that dog was going to bring it, then he would too. I was constantly on Murray and rushing him into the house, trying to reduce his stress with his Wobblers. It has been crazy. This past winter their dog even took out a portion of my fence... though they said is was the neighbor on the other side of them with the tiny dogs. rolleyes I repaired the fence for $15 dollars, which she said was needing hundreds of dollars worth of repair. rolleyes She also told me how aggressive their one dog was, how it would kill any dog, attack strangers, was a social misfit... blah, blah, blah. It was a chow mix, and if there is one breed that I have a little fear of it is chows. This dog hit their back door growling and I would rush to get my dogs back inside. It would run the fence snarling and huffing, I feared for my dogs (since it had done damage to my fence) and I feared for the neighbors two babies and the other dog. Last night she decided that she needed to see Murray and called over the fence that she was going to pet Murray around the corner of the fence... ummmm NO! I told her that I would just meet her out front, since Murray thought bad things live in that back yard, I didn't want a dog bite to happen (though Murray has never bitten a human). So we meet out front... she is smoking, drinking a beer and totally knocked up. Murray tolerated her, he even gave her a little lean in the end. God bless that generous boy. Her husband came over too, and was a complete ass. He kept trying to stare at Murr, growled at him, etc. I told the guy to knock it off, that Murray was not used to men, though what I really meant was Murray wasn't use to assholes. He finally leaves, and she tells me that she is going to breed her other dog since they just put their chow mix down since it tried to attack her, her kids, and did attack her other dog. She is the ultimate expert on vets, told me that I could go to her vet and get Murray fixed up for about 250. She hated this one vet in town, though he cleared up her dogs constant ear infection, oh yeah... he is a family friend. It is all I could do to be civil, since I have to be neighbors with this train wreck. ... is it evil of me to be secretly glad the chow is gone? The remaining dog is mellow and Murray pretty much is interested but not over stimulated. My Great danes are almost two years old, and even thru puppyhood I've been going through Toenail clippers like crazy. The $14 clippers everyone sells just doesn't hold up.
The metal bends and then breaks & the cutter part gets dull.

I had a guy at the dog park w/ great dane who told me he uses Wire cutters, but I can't do that.It wont cut right!
So please everyone help me!
What do I need to cut great dane Toenails with?
Will Pedipaws hold up or will my great dane run for help when they hear the noise?
Lillys nails need both a cutter and a file.
Their nails have gotten so large & so thick I now need to learn what to use. Lillys nails have been needing great attention and her nails are tearing and that needs to be fixed.She doesn't like me using moms little nail file. how about a hoof file?

It is totally unrelated to Danes,(though Isa is a featured cast member dance2) so I did not want to post in the forums, so hopefully you will tell anyone you think might be interested about the link.

Please bear in mind that this documentary was my very first attempt at film making. We have over 16 hours of footage, and had to beg for 10 minutes of documentary time for the class. This is quite an "amateur" film, so please keep that in mind as you watch. popcorn

Murray has been on the gemmotherapy for 2 weeks now and I have seen improvement. He has some better days and some not so good days, but steady improvement overall. He is jumping on the bed now instead of slowing hoisting himself up. He runs a little and seems to enjoy playing, though I make him take it easy. I had him out at an estate sale on Saturday, which he loved... he is such a people dog. He was greeting everyone, even the guy who asked if he was a dachsund. He starts his BICOMM therapy tomorrow, and I will let you know how is goes.
