Question Dewclaw stitches came out

We were outside yesterday and Achilles started getting rowdy, jumping around and playing and then one of our friend's kids said, "hey your puppy is bleeding on his foot!" and i looked and his left dewclaw stitches had came out... he's had the stitches in for 4 days, its not bleeding but it looks nasty.
It happened late last night and so we wrapped it up cause it was bleeding a little bit and our vet isnt opened today or tomorrow, so i was wondering what we should do?

I took the wrap of this morning so it could breathe and he could clean it, and its not bleeding anywhere and he's not really bothering it.

Any suggestions?

You might try liquid band-aide. Keep it clean and do not let him brother it. Good luck. If it is not bleeding just watch for infection.

I'm confused, dew claws are usually removed when a pup is 1-3 days old. Did you have the declaw removed after it became solid bone? That's a pretty serious surgery (like having a tail docked after the same 1 -3 days).

If so .. that can cause a serious infection (not much meat between the actual bone & the skin) if it's left open .. you need to take the dog to a vet immediantly and have it re-stiched, especially if you already think it is looking nasty.

Ya im leaving for the Bahamas tomorrow, but my boyfriend is taking him to the vet monday... he's keeping it cleaned out till then.

And ya we got them removed late because the breeder didn't do it when he was younger and we live on a ranch so he definently needed them taken off.

What is he using to keep it clean? I wouldn't recommend anything other than epsom salt soaks to draw out any infection but even that isn't the greatest. Glad he is taking him to the vet Monday for antibiotics and cleaning supplies. I would have him wear socks over his feet to prevent licking and help as a breathable barrier.

I guess i don't understand the need for them having to be removed, as long as they weren't floppy (which most aren't), they probably wouldn't be a problem if you keep them short enough. That's neither here nor there at this point but maybe something to think about for the future. My dane has his and we have zero problems with them being an issue. FYI

I don't think I have a dog with them removed. and my presa does protection work and in she has always been in rugged conditions. And I personally never had a issue with them on.
